Jump into our woodshop and explore the world of turning wood into works of art using the lathe. In this beginner class, the expert instructors of the Diamond State Woodturners Group will work one-on-one with individual students. Each student will have an assigned lathe and instructor! You will walk away from this class with a ton of knowledge and several finished pieces you can enjoy for years, such as a wooden pen, honey dipper, and other household items. Bring your lunch and wear close-toed shoes; we’ll provide the rest! It’s time to learn from the masters.

In this hands-on class, you'll learn: 

• Proper safety practices when working with a lathe.
• How to set a lathe up for working with different stock woods.
• The proper pressure, distance, and movement to sculpt your final projects.
• The step-by-step process of creating turned wood pieces.
